In general, a directory is a collection of information organized by subject. Directories are containing link of websites that are categories by subject. Directories allow site owner to submit his site to a particular category and it’s maintained by human editor. Yahoo was the first human edited wide popular directory. Directories have different types of site submissions like:
Free submission: no fee for site submission and review.
Reciprocal link: means that directory needs to link back in order to site listed
Paid submission: it charges fees for site submission and review.
Featured: it’s for premium position of the site in the category. It’s also paid submission.
